There are many ways to get involved at St. Luke's.  If you see something that interests you, don't wait to be asked--go for it!  We are always looking for helping hands.   All groups are open to everyone.  Really!

WORSHIP GROUPS

General information on Worship

ACOLYTES…serve at the 10:00 am service. There are four teams which rotate throughout the year. Contact: Ted Kapuscinski

THE CHOIR…sings weekly at the 10:00 am service and rehearses Sundays at 9:00 am and Thursdays at 7:00 pm except for July.  For detailed and up to date information, please contact our organist and choirmaster, Ron McEntire.

LAY READERS AND EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS...assist the clergy in leading worship.  Some training is required.  Contact Mother Susan for more information.  The schedule is now available online.  If you have traded, please let Kim Mann know.

EUCHARISTIC VISITORS...bring the sacrament to those who are unable to come to church.  Training and a special license are required.  Check the website for information about upcoming training sessions.  Contact Deacon Cathy Basile for more information.  The schedule for visitors is posted here.

THE PRAYER CIRCLE...prays immediately by request for parishioners and their family and friends who are in special need (e.g. surgery, a difficult time, etc.).  They will offer daily prayers for up to two weeks.  To request prayers, call Ann Lamp 488-9039 or call the office at 483-6405.

ST. AGNES ALTAR GUILD…meets quarterly and is responsible for setting and cleaning the altar, vessels and hangings each week, and also arranging the flowers. Contact: Donna Phillippi, Sacristan.

USHERS...assist in welcoming and orienting newcomers and helping the service proceed smoothly.  Contact: Dr. Bruce Martenson.

THE WORSHIP COMMITTEE…meets occasionally to assist the clergy in planning worship at St. Luke's. Contact: Sally Ulrich.

 

DOCTRINE GROUPS (Education and Formation)

General information on Christian Formation at St. Luke's.

THE ADULT FORUM...meets Sunday mornings at 9:00 am on the stage area of the undercroft.  Guest speakers and discussions are held on a wide variety of topics relating to church and society.  A committee meets periodically to plan programs throughout the year.  Contact: Fr. Eric

CHURCH SCHOOL...meets Sunday mornings at 9:00 am beginning September 12 and is open to children and youth from Pre-K through High School.  Our nursery is open from 9:00 am until after church for children under 3 years of age. Contact: Mother Susan.

"A JOURNEY OF FAITH" (Emmaus)...is a basic course in the Christian Faith and is recommended for anyone who wants to grow in their understanding in a supportive community.  Emmaus is for those who are experienced Christians and for those who are brand new to faith and the church.   Contact:  Barbara Bumsted.

MEN'S BIBLE STUDY...meets each Wednesday at 7:30 am in the parish office.  All are welcome.  Contact Chip Ulrich.

JOURNEY TO ADULTHOOD (J2A) is our program for youth formation at St. Luke's. 

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION...is offered at various times during the year and includes instruction for Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Eucharist and Holy Matrimony.  Contact the clergy.

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY...meets each Thursday at 8:15 am in the library (in the undercroft near the Fourth Street door).  All are welcome.  Contact Mother Susan.

 

ACTION GROUPS

BISHOP OVERS GUILD…meets for a pot-luck supper the second Tuesday of each month and will provide coffee and light refreshments after funerals, when requested. The guild coordinates the annual Shoppers Luncheon in November. Contact: Wilma Twinam.

HELPING HANDS...is an ecumenical ministry dedicated to hands on help for people in our wider community with special needs.  St. Luke's volunteers have recently helped with a number of "odd jobs".  Do you have a skill or a pair of helpful hands?  Contact:  Dan Anderson.

THE MEN'S GROUP...meets once a year and organizes fellowship events and parish breakfasts several times a year.  Contact: Fr. Eric.

THE THRIFT SHOP…is open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00am-2:00pm and on Saturdays from 10:00am-1:00pm. We accept donations on Tuesdays from 9:00am-12:00 noon. Contact: Carol Barr.

THE WEDNESDAY GROUP…meets in the undercroft of the church (which is wheelchair accessible) for worship, lunch and a program beginning at 11:30 am on the fourth Wednesday of the month, except for August and December. THE STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE…plans and leads the annual pledge campaign and also helps the congregation focus on how we use all of the gifts God has given us. It's not to late to become a founding member of the George F. O'Pray Legacy Society.  

 

OVERSIGHT GROUPS

THE VESTRY…are the elected leaders of the parish and meet on the second Monday of each month (excluding July). Contact the Wardens: Karen Collins and Paula PickettClick here to read the latest minutes.

THE PROPERTY COMMITTEE…is responsible for major repairs and upgrades of all the church buildings and property. Contact: Chip Ulrich.

THE FINANCE COMMITTEE...oversees the operating budget as well as our investments.  Contact our treasurer, Catherine Johnner Mims.
